Sven (March 15, 2009): I bought my Teac CD-P3500 new in 1995, and it's still sounding good. The transport has been carefully cleaned and lubed (where applicable) as it began sticking.

This was due to placing it on top of the amp and the heat dried the original lithium lube. CD transports are VERY sensitive to friction and should slide if you merely blow on them (exaggerating, but you get the picture. This is with the drive-cogs removed, by the way). Even the motor got a speck of oil. I recommend baby oil, by the way, a quality one. It's about 20W and no harmfull additives. I first used a Luxman tube/solid-state amp and now have a Marantz 7001.

Speakers were Jamo's, but now Canadian Mirage Omniphases. I've test-listened to many new CD's and, in all honesty, saved my money. The Teac CD-P3500 is in no way inferior to modern units.
